چکیده

This paper describes a robust method for spinal vertebrae edge detection from biplanar X-ray radiographic images (lateral and antero-posterior). It uses anisotropic filtering and a Canny-Deriche edge detector applied locally and in a region of interest. The anatomical structure of interest in this work is the spinal area. Anisotropic filtering is applied so as to preserve edge structures while reducing image noise. The proposed technique has been validated on a database of X-ray radiographic images obtained from the EOS system 1. Results are compared to the edges drawn by a medical expert.

Edge Detection in Ultrasound Images Using Speckle Reducing Anisotropic Diffusion in Canny Edge Detector Framework

Conventional Canny edge detector can detect edges in image with additive noise effectively but not ultrasound image that are corrupted by multiplicative speckle noise which alleviates image resolution resulting in inaccurate characterization of object features. In this paper, we proposed to incorporate the modified SRAD into the Canny edge detector to replace the Gaussian blurring in the conven...

Edge enhancement by local deconvolution

In this paper a new approach for blurred image restoration is presented. Our algorithm is based on human vision which zooms back and forth in the image in order to identify global structures or details. Deconvolution parameters are estimated by an edge detection and correspond to the ones of a chosen edge detection model. The segmentation is obtained by merging multiscale information provided b...

Generalization of Canny-Deriche filter for detection of noisy exponential edge

This paper presents a generalization of the Canny–Deriche $lter for ramp edge detection with optimization criteria used by Canny (signal-to-noise ratio, localization, and suppression of false responses). Using techniques similar to those developed by Deriche, we derive a $lter which maximizes the product of the $rst two criteria under the constraint of the last one. The result is an in$nite len...

A FUZZY DIFFERENCE BASED EDGE DETECTOR

In this paper, a new algorithm for edge detection based on fuzzyconcept is suggested. The proposed approach defines dynamic membershipfunctions for different groups of pixels in a 3 by 3 neighborhood of the centralpixel. Then, fuzzy distance and -cut theory are applied to detect the edgemap by following a simple heuristic thresholding rule to produce a thin edgeimage. A large number of experime...
